Michael R. DiBenedetto, M.D.

Biography

Michael DiBenedetto, MD is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and the energy behind North Idaho Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. DiBenedetto has been helping patients with orthopedic problems for the past 20 years. He is experienced in arthroscopic and sports medicine, complete hand care, extremity trauma and fracture care, knee, hip, and shoulder joint arthroplasty and spine care. Michael is a fun loving father, who enjoys cooking for friends and family, the outdoors, tending to his garden and orchard, coaching children’s athletics, and bemoaning old age. He spoils the zoo of animals that run around his home, while simultaneously claiming they belong to other members of the family. And most of all he loves his pets, his work, and his family. Other daily activities include pretending to be a grumpy old man and trying to hide the big teddy bear he really is.

Patient FAQ's

Q: My insurance isn't on the list of preferred providers that you use. Will I be able to use it?

A: Many insurance companies will pay for Out-of-Network (OON) providers with pre-authorization or if you are referred by another physician. We will always bill your insurance company as a courtesy, or we can work with you on getting forms submitted to your provider to pay for our doctor's services. Any balance remaining after your insurance company pays is your responsibility. If you are concerned about what your OON benefits are, please contact your insurance company.

Q: Do you need my insurance card?
A: We will need to make a copy of your insurance card to put on file. Please have it with you when you come in for your appointment. We will also need to see a Photo ID; please make sure you bring that with you as well.

Q: How do I get referred to North Idaho Orthopedics and Sports Medicine?
A: Your primary care physician will refer you to North Idaho Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Some insurance companies need a referral/authorization in order to process and accept your claim. You can check with your insurance provider to find out more information.

Q: I had X-rays taken at the hospital, do I need to bring those with me when I come in?
A: It is crucial to have all diagnostic studies at the time of your appointment, or you may be rescheduled. If your films were done at Bonner General Hospital or Boundary Community Hospital, we have access to those images via the computer.
