Patient Testimonials

"Our family has seen Dr. Michael DiBenedetto since 2001, shortly after he moved to Sandpoint for our orthopedic needs. Raising five active children in North Idaho you can imagine the many times my children required the expertise of a competent orthopedic surgeon. Both my boys were members of the Sandpoint High School Football program, all of my children also spent many a day on Schweitzer Mountain, not to mention they played soccer, baseball and basketball.

From ankle sprains to a dislocated elbow Dr. 'D', as he is affectionately called, has been there to share his knowledge and expertise with us. After years of my children seeing him for their orthopedic necessities it is my turn to be treated by him, the newly arrived, Dr. Jonathan Fisher and their staff. I had the misfortune to fall in September 2009. As a result of this fall, I knocked my left foot off of my leg, dislocated my right shoulder and have a small fracture in my lower back. Once I arrived at the BGH Emergency Room these two physicians came immediately to visit with me. Upon seeing me and my injuries they comforted me and explained what was to happen next.

Both of these very competent doctors have many years of experience between them in their respective fields. Living in a small community as we do I feel we are very lucky and blessed to have doctors of this caliber to help fill the orthopedic and podiatric needs in our little part of the Inland Northwest. No matter whether it is in the office, the hospital or on the phone I have always been treated with the utmost respect, care and genuine concern. Doctors DiBenedetto, Fisher and Magee as well as their office staff have always treated and cared for me as a person not a case, a claim or injury." -Stephanie Wold

Patient FAQ's

Q: My insurance isn't on the list of preferred providers that you use. Will I be able to use it?

A: Many insurance companies will pay for Out-of-Network (OON) providers with pre-authorization or if you are referred by another physician. We will always bill your insurance company as a courtesy, or we can work with you on getting forms submitted to your provider to pay for our doctor's services. Any balance remaining after your insurance company pays is your responsibility. If you are concerned about what your OON benefits are, please contact your insurance company.

Q: Do you need my insurance card?
A: We will need to make a copy of your insurance card to put on file. Please have it with you when you come in for your appointment. We will also need to see a Photo ID; please make sure you bring that with you as well.

Q: How do I get referred to North Idaho Orthopedics and Sports Medicine?
A: Your primary care physician will refer you to North Idaho Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Some insurance companies need a referral/authorization in order to process and accept your claim. You can check with your insurance provider to find out more information.

Q: I had X-rays taken at the hospital, do I need to bring those with me when I come in?
A: It is crucial to have all diagnostic studies at the time of your appointment, or you may be rescheduled. If your films were done at Bonner General Hospital or Boundary Community Hospital, we have access to those images via the computer.
